Patent attorney David Walker joins Spectraseis as Vice President and Intellectual Property Counsel
David Walker is an experienced geophysicist and patent attorney licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He holds a JD from the University of Houston and graduated M.S. in geophysics from the University of Wyoming. Prior to his career in law, Walker was employed as a geophysicist for eleven years by Western Geophysical and Phillips Petroleum Company, where he gained extensive experience in acquiring and processing geophysical data for hydrocarbon exploration and field development and published research on signal processing issues related to the non-linear dynamics of physical processes. Walker’s legal experience includes numerous patent and trademark filings for geophysical and other technologies and prosecution and successful settlement of a patent infringement case involving a major oilfield services firm. Walker is editor of the Intellectual Property department of Geophysics, a technical journal published by the Society of Exploration Geophysics. He has joined Spectraseis from a Houston-based law firm where he was the partner responsible for the company in intellectual property matters.
