Abstract
From March to May 2004 Petrobras performed a “blind-test” experimental geophysical survey in Potiguar basin, Brazil using hydrocarbon microtremor technology. Non-calibrated maps were compared with PETROBRAS knowledge, concerning the study area. The technology demonstrated for this specific area a correlation of over 50% for the uncalibrated maps, and over 85% as expected for the calibrated maps, when we superimpose the potential maps generated by Spectraseis over the existing Petrobras reservoir maps, as understood today; excellent results given the harsh conditions under which the campaign was carried out. It is expected that the method can reach consistency levels as high as 90% with the known potentials, which provides HyMAS a confidence value very high when compared with conventional seismic (indirect) methods.
