Compatible with restrictive environmental and access requirements
Minor surface penetration at measurement location, zero emissions
Versatile field operations: light crew, hand-carried equipment
LF field acquisition, a true environmental commitment
A key advantage of low frequency passive seismic surveying over other geophysical methods is its compatibility with increasingly restrictive environmental and access requirements. LF surveys have virtually no environmental impact and are well suited for use in the most sensitive environments. This facilitates licensing and access permits.
Moreover, the results can be used to focus the application of more invasive technologies, such as 2D/3D seismic, in only the most promising areas, thereby reducing both the overall acquisition surface and the environmental impact of a conventional exploration, appraisal and development program.
Survey density and procedures are easily tailored to local environmental requirements. There is no need to cut new access lines and minor surface penetrations at measurement locations are easily remediated to return the environment to its original state.
Prospect areas can be accessed on foot or by light vehicles, and equipment can be hand-carried where terrain or environmental restrictions limit vehicle access. LF surveys do not require any artificial energy source, such as vibrator trucks or explosives.
The health and safety risk of LF surveying activity is inherently low. Spectraseis consistently aims for, and achieves, incident-free operations.
