Field Specialist, Houston

As a leading contributor to the design, planning, and execution of passive seismic surveys for hydrofrac monitoring, the Field Specialist will coordinate the acquisition of microseismic data with the field operator and other contractors. A B.S. degree in geophysics, engineering or a related field is required with at least three years of experience in some phase of oil and gas field operations. Candidates should be have customer-facing experience in providing services to oil and gas clients. Strong communication, presentation and customer support skills will be essential.

Senior Geophysicist, Calgary

This is a cornerstone technical role in our new Calgary office. Working closely with the Canada Country Manager and our technical center in Denver, the Senior Geophysicist will process and analyze microseismic and broadband seismic data using proprietary workflows; develop survey designs and work closely with Spectraseis operations staff in planning data acquisitions; quality control acquired datasets; and work with customers to plan projects and present results. Candidates should have at least 10 years  in time and depth processing of land seismic data for oil and gas clients. Experience with borehole data acquisition and processing would be an advantage, as would skills or experience in global seismology. A master’s degree or higher in geophysics, engineering, physics or a related field is required.

Processing Geophysicists

Apply groundbreaking LF and broadband seismic technologies to client and research projects. Applicants should have a M.S. or higher degree in geophysics, geology, or physics with 3-10 years industry experience in seismic processing beyond the degree, preferably in land data. Service company experience is a plus, along with the ability to seek creative solutions while paying close attention to detail. Expertise in using ArcGIS would be especially valuable. The successful candidate will have strong communication and presentation skills, coupled with experience in working with clients. Special consideration will be given to applicants fluent in Spanish.

Microseismic Specialist

Responsible for developing a global microseismic business using Spectraseis’ proprietary technologies. This opportunity demands a high energy self starter, willing to take risks to achieve results. A M.S. degree in geophysics, geology, or physics is required with at least five years industry experience focusing on microseismic monitoring beyond the degree. Candidates should be well versed in current microseismic methods, including the latest software for microseismic monitoring. Strong communication and presentation skills will be essential.

Microseismic Research Geophysicist

Be a key member of a research team developing microseismic detection and location technologies. A M.S. or Ph.D. degree in geophysics, physics, math, or related discipline is required with specific experience in the latest microseismic detection and location technology. Candidates should have 3-10 years experience in geophysical research for the oil and gas industry working with a variety of seismic data and a track record of technical publications.

Scientific application programmers

Develop scientific software in support of both research and client projects. At least a B.S. degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or another technical field is required with a strong working knowledge of Java development, database related development and advanced Java based database solutions such as Hibernate, JPA, etc. Five to ten years experience developing commercial scientific applications in the oil and gas industry would be preferred.

Equipment Technician

Maintain all seismic field equipment and manage global shipment of equipment to support field operations. At least a two-year associate degree or equivalent in electronics, engineering, or a related field is required. One to two years experience in instrument repair, along with data base software would be a big plus. Some travel to support field operations will be required. This position is based in Houston.

Borehole Geophysicist

Advance the application and further development of Spectraseis’ passive borehole monitoring solutions. A M.S. or Ph.D. degree in geophysics, geology, or physics with 3-10 years experience in borehole geophysics is required. This experience should include oil field experience in deploying borehole tools and experience in processing various types of borehole data. The successful candidate will have the strong presentation, communication, and teamwork skills.
