LF applications can directly address some of E&P industry’s greatest challenges:
▪ Provide new subsurface information that can be used for prospect ranking. LF data is the perfect complement to conventional seismic for providing direct information about the pore fluids.
▪ Enable access to areas that are difficult to enter due to environmental or social restrictions. The very low HSE profile of LF technology is a distinct advantage.
▪ Economically and efficiently screen large exploration areas for planning an exploration program.
▪ Obtain subsurface information in difficult geophysical environments such as seismically obscuring features in the overburden.
▪ Focus on hydrocarbon content thereby making LF an ideal complement to 2D/3D seismic structural imaging technologies.
Mapping zones of greatest hydrocarbon potential using LF data allows an operator to better focus their investment when working in costly and environmentally sensitive exploration areas and to develop plays hampered by poor seismic imaging
