New white papers focus on advanced fracture monitoring techniques

Summary

Spectraseis has released three new white papers on microseismic technology topics of strong interest to E&P operators in unconventional plays. The papers review advanced methods for frac monitoring planning, new imaging approaches and integration of microseismic data with fluid system information.

Key topics covered include:

  • Use of viscoelastic forward modeling to optimize array geometries
  • The advantages of 3-C nodal survey systems for flexible survey layouts and lower environmental impact
  • How wave equation based imaging of microseismic event is delivering more accurate and reliable results
  • New techniques for direct characterization of fracture directions using imaged radiation patterns
  • The critical role of strong shear wave data in microseismic fracture recordings
  • Use of pre- and post-frac ambient wavefield recordings to identify fluid system changes resulting from frac operations
  • How new high-sensitivity surface and shallow borehole arrays are delivering high quality microseismic data at a fraction of the cost of deep borehole arrays
