Exploration applications
Get all the data you need to make confident decisions
Uncertainty in the subsurface fluid system is often the greatest source of prospect risk. An AWC survey focused on fluid content can be tailored to address many of these important questions.
Before drilling, AWC results can help focus further G&G investment. After drilling, AWC maps can help you understand the distribution of hydrocarbons to fill in the gaps of sparse well data.
Limited information from first wells in large areas can easily convey misleading information early in the exploration cycle. In 1998 an IOC sold its 50% interest of a large acreage holding to its partner after two unsuccessful wells. One well and less than a year later, the remaining partner reported estimated recoverable reserves of over 1 Bbbl. Now on production, plateau rates are reported at 175,000 bbl/day. The price of the sale was $7.5 million, or about a ½ day of production income.
Ambient wave-field characterization (AWC) delivers subsurface fluid information for improved risk calculations and well prioritization.
In as little as three months, Spectraseis can plan, acquire, and process an AWC survey to screen large or sensitive areas, or prioritize well locations. AWC passive surveys are done in a socially and environmentally friendly manner with easy permitting and light field operations.
AWC measurements respond to the fluid content in the subsurface, which is the ultimate goal of all risking efforts. Spectraseis provides a unique new piece of information to incorporate into your G&G risk model.
